Members of Bradford and Airedale Manufacturing Alliance were treated to a fascinating insight into the vast array of help available to manufacturers from University of Bradford.
Superbly organised by Helen Horseman, Research and Innovation Marketing Manager, the event was opened by Professor John Bridgeman, Pro-ViceChancellor for Research and Innovation.
The morning continued with short but detailed presentations from Professor Fun Hu, Professor of wireless communication, Professor Felician Campean, Professor of automotive reliability engineering, Professor Ben Whiteside, polymer engineering, Dr. Tom Swift, Lecturer in polymer characterisation, Professor Anant Paradkar, Professor of pharmaceutical engineering science, Dr. Sava Konur, Lecturer in computer science and Dr. John Steele, head of business partnerships.
Following these informative presentations was an excellent talk from Nathan McArdle, Manager advanced development programmes – BorgWarner Ltd.
All attendees were offered tours of the University from Dr. Richard Telford the Analytical Centre Director and Dr. Tim Gough, Manager of materials, characterisation labs, polymer engineering.
The event was brought to a close by Mr. Nick Garthwaite, Chair of the Bradford and Airedale Manufacturing Alliance, President of Bradford Chamber of Commerce and Managing Director of Christeyns.
Manufacturers attending were delighted with the information on how University of Bradford could help their companies. Three companies immediately started discussing projects with Dr. John Steele and four more have requested more contact in the near future.
